Tax Savings: Medical Expenses

Getting the best savings on your taxes can take some time and effort, but I’m here to help! Did you know that many people can claim various medical expenses to get a tax credit? Here are some examples of expenses that can be included in that calculation:

  • CPAP machines
  • Bathroom aids such as grab bars
  • Bliss symbol boards
  • Limb braces
  • Crutches
  • Vaccinations
  • The cost of medical certificates, such as is required for the Disability Tax Credit
  • Eyeglasses and contact lenses
  • Dental care (other than cosmetic)
  • Diapers or disposable briefs for someone who is incontinent because of an illness, injury, or affliction.
  • Prescription drugs and medical devices
  • Gluten-free foods for people with celiac disease (requires special calculations and certification)
  • Laboratory procedures, services, or tests
  • Health insurance premiums
  • Travel expenses to receive out of town medical care
