The Details:
- You must be an Ontario Resident as of December 31, 2022
- Only one person per family can claim the credit, but your claim can include expenses paid by your spouse, common-law partner, or an eligible child
- Eligible expenses include costs for accommodations relating to leisure travel, such as at hotels, motels, resorts, lodges, B&Bs, or campgrounds
- This is a refundable tax credit, so individuals can get up to $200 back, while a family can get back up to $400.
- The credit is calculated as 20% of what you’ve spent on eligible accommodations up to a yearly maximum amount ($1,000 for individuals, $2,000 for families) and is handled via your personal income tax return
